The Influence of Stress, Depression, Self-esteem and Cyberbullying on Adolescent's Psychological Well Being

Abstract

|
Objective: The purpose of this study is to evaluate how stress, cyberbullying, depression, and self esteem influence psychological well-being in adolescents.
Methods: Participants were 547 students who had been attending at 30 middle and high school in B Metropolitan city. The questionnaires used BEPSI-K, CES-D, Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale. Cyberbullying scale, and Psychological Well-being Scale(PWBS).
Results: The psychological well-being were significantly correlated to time of SNS use, economic level, student status, stress, cyberbullying, depression, and self esteem. The significant predictors of psychological well-being were self esteem(¥â=.57,?<.001), depression(¥â=-.19,?<.001), time of SNS use(¥â=.08,?<.01), and cyberbullying(¥â=-.07,?<.05). These factors accounted for 56% of variance in psychological well-being.
Conclusion: Managing depression, self esteem, and cyberbullying could improve psychological well-being. Also, The program to enhance self esteem could help management for psychological well-being.
